Obituary

         Funeral services for Eva Lou (Herring) Berry, 78, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro Ty Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Berry Cemetery in Lufkin Texas.

        Mrs. Berry was born on April 1, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the late Charlie Clarence Herring and Lola Mae Ivy Herring, and died Sunday, July 9, 2023, in Lufkin Texas.  

         Eva Lou, also known as “Effie Lou” by those close to her, was known for her infectious laugh and corky sense of humor.  She was a homemaker for most of her life and loved to cook for her family.  She had six children and also raised multiple foster children. Eva lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for many years, during that time she was a faithful volunteer for the Salvation Army. Her favorite things to do were camping, fishing, traveling with family, and shopping, with her favorite thing to say while shopping was “Just looking”. She never met a stranger and no one ever left her home hungry. Eva was an accomplished seamstress, clothing her family with many outfits.  She loved the Lord and was ready to join Christ in Heaven with her family. She was truly loved by all and will be missed on earth until we meet again.

         She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alisa and Ken Gould of Trinity, TX; daughter, Donna Louise Eddings, OK; son, Michael Edward Deason of Oklahoma; son and daughter-in-law, Walter Eugene Whittet and Dianne C McCormack of Siloam Springs, AR; daughter & son-in-law, Jerri Renee and Virgel D Robertson of Lufkin, TX; granddaughter and husband, Bobbie Jo and Michael Thomas of Trinity, TX; granddaughter and husband, Robin Renee and Casey McGraw of Lufkin, TX; grandson, Virgel Dewayne Robertson Jr of Lufkin, TX; granddaughter, Anastasia McCormack of Siloam Springs, AR; grandson, Christian Shultz of Siloam Springs, AR; grandson, Parker Bossow of Siloam Springs, AR; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Mike Poole of Moore, OK; sister, Paula Kay Rawson McClevinus of Lufkin TX; and numerous of other great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

          Mrs. Berry is preceded in death by her mother, Lola May McClevinus, Step-father, Paul McClevinus, father, Charlie Clarence Herring, husband, Porter Eugene Whittet, husband Bryan Andrew Berry, brother Bertie Raymond Herring, sister-in-law Bonita Herring, brother Charlie Raymond Herring, sister Phyllis Elaine Stevens, brother-in-law Allen “Steve” Stevens, and daughter Kathy Lynn Evans of Midwest, City

           Pallbearers will be Walter Whittet, Virgel Robertson, Virgel Robertson Jr., Kenneth Gould, Michael Thomas, Joel G. Freijo, and Casey McGraw.

            Honorary pallbearers will be James Herring, Paul Herring, and Kenny Herring.

            Special memorials may be made to Salvation Army 412 S 3rd Street Lufkin 75901.

            Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Shafer Funeral Home.
