Memorial services for Evelyn I. Garner, 89, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Christian Center Pasadena (Faith Assembly of God Pasadena) located at 3940 Vista Rd., Pasadena, Texas 77504 with Pastor John McDuff officiating. A second service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at The Foundry Assembly of God Church in Lufkin with Pastor Mike Fowler officiating.
Mrs. Garner was born on May 17, 1936, in Texas City, Texas, to the late Harvey George Inman and Celestine Elba (Slaughter) Inman, and died Sunday, October 5, 2025, at her residence.
Mrs. Garner and her husband Bob lived in Baytown, Texas, then spent 46 years in Carlinville, Illinois, where they raised their family and actively engaged in church life at Carlinville First (formerly Carlinville First Assembly of God), before moving to Lufkin. Mrs. Garner attended The Foundry Assembly of God Church in Lufkin and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She considered her children to be her biggest blessing in life. Mrs. Garner’s love language was cooking for others. She loved to spend time working in her garden and canning her crops.
Mrs. Garner is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Goode of Houston, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Dawn Garner of Houston, TX; son, Dean Garner of Lufkin, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ruben Osorio of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; daughter, Jana Garner of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; daughter, Dana Garner of Collaroy, Australia; granddaughter, Sarah Garner of Creede, CO; grandson, Joshua Garner of Houston, TX; grandson, Gabriel Osorio of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; granddaughter, Raquel Osorio of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; sister, Vivian McDuff of Pasadena, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Walter Robbins of Norris, TN; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Garner.
