Visitation for Fannie Sides, 92, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
Mrs. Sides was born on August 26,1931, in Kennard, Texas, to the late Cora Dell (Goodson) Gates and Thomas Edgar Gates, and died Monday, March 4, 2024, in Lufkin.
Mrs. Sides loved her family very much. She was a loving wife for 70 years until the death of her beloved husband, Jesse in 2018. Mrs. Sides particularly loved gathering all of her family together for Thanksgiving. She enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. Mrs. Sides also enjoyed crafting, especially crochet.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ray Randolph of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Pattie Sides of Nacogdoches; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Dale Finney of Humble; grandchildren, Christy Burton Smith, Deidra Lea Leach and husband Eugene, Steven Ray Sides and wife Mistie, Jeremy Aaron Sides, and Justin Elliott Sides and wife Mari; great-grandchildren, Christian James Smith, Joshua Evan Sides, Makayla Ashlyn Sides, Jacob Ethan Sides, Madison Avery Sides, Jaxson Edward Sides, Connor Burton Leach, Kyla Rae Sides, and Kaz Rucker Sides; along with many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Mrs. Sides is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Sides, parents, Thomas and Cora Gates; sisters, Birdie Lee Walker, Tina Bell Campbell and Elner Smitherman; and brothers, William Gates, Cleet Gates and Claborn Gates.
