Funeral service for Fernando Grimaldo, 90, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Marcos Elizondo officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin.
Mr. Grimaldo was born on October 26, 1934, in Mexico, to Juan Grimaldo and Mikayela (Hernandez) de Grimaldo, and died Thursday, August 14, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Grimaldo loved to sing and tend to his garden of flowers and plants. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball. Mr. Grimaldo absolutely adored his granddaughters. His favorite sayings were “It’s Okay” and “It’s All right”.
He is survived by his daughter and husband, Maria and Valentin Olavide of Lufkin; son and wife, Gilberto and Noelia Grimaldo of Diboll; daughter and husband, Gloria and Alberto Dejesus of Diboll; daughter and husband, Rosaura and Luis Maldonado of Diboll; daughter and husband, Veronica and Michael Ditsworth of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Marisol and Julio Flores of Lufkin; grandchildren, Rosario and Seth Turgeau, Oscar and Juan Franco, Jasmine Grimaldo, Alex Grimaldo, Alexis and Matthew Perez, Luis and Laci Dejesus, Eric and Brooklyn Dejesus, Coby Dejesus, Marco and Maria Solis-Maldonado, Hunter and Conner Ditsworth, Julio Flores Jr., Ivan and Miguel Flores; along with 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Grimaldo; and parents.
Pallbearers will be Gilberto Grimaldo, Luis Maldonado, Michael Ditsworth, Valentin Olavide, Alberto Dejesus, and Julio Flores.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home.
