Flumencio Constante, Jr. Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Flumencio Constante, Jr., 69, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas with Deacon Gary Trevino officiating.

Mr. Constante was born on July 16, 1957, in Raymondville, Texas, to the late Flumencio Constante, Sr. and the late Juanita Guadiana, and died September 9, 2026, in Lufkin.

Flumencio proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1974 to 1977 and was recognized as a Vietnam-era veteran. A Field Artillery Crewman, he served with Battery A, 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery, 2nd Armored Division, including overseas service in Germany. During his military service, he earned the Driver/Mechanic Badge and qualified as an Expert Rifleman. He completed three years of active duty and was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist Four. Flumencio was also a disabled veteran, and his service and sacrifice for his country remained an important and enduring part of his life.

Flumencio brought boundless warmth, laughter, and creativity to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family, often bringing them together around the table to enjoy the meals he loved grilling and cooking for them. Blessed with a sharp wit, he delighted in telling jokes, making people laugh, and offering a helping hand to anyone and everyone he could. His quiet moments were filled with his favorite passions—reading, drawing, writing poems, and watching movies—though Sundays during football season, he could often be found cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Flumencio leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, joy, and deep devotion to his family that will be forever treasured.

He is survived by his wife, Belinda Constante of Lufkin; daughter, Veronica M. Constante of Lufkin; son, Flumencio “Rocky” Constante, III of Mansfield, Texas; daughter-in-law, Crystal Cortés Constante of Mansfield; son, Jeremy C.
