Memorial services for Gary Carl Burdine, 77, of Chireno, will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Jackson Hill Marina in Broaddus with Mr. Terry Simpson officiating.
Mr. Burdine was born on December 19, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Carl Burdine and Dorothy (Gann) Burdine, and died Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at his residence.
Gary Carl Burdine known as “Dad/Pa/Paw” for many of the kids and grandkids. Gary was a TRUE PATRIOT to his country and family. He served 4 years in the United States Army and 30 years in law enforcement. He loved his family with his whole heart, just as he loved his country. He was proud to serve his country in any form. He volunteered to go to Iraq to help with their police force, where he served for 2 years. It was there that he met his wife, and they shared 20 years of life and marriage. He leaves behind a lifetime legacy.
When I was little, my dad would block my path in the hallway of our house. I was 2 years old and would tell him “get outta me way and leave me ‘lone.” As an adult, I still say that when I get a goal. He always told me to get an education, because no one could ever take that away from me, so I did. And he was right. He was my hero, and I am the woman I am today because of him. His sweet pea.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Dorinda Burdine of Chireno; daughters, Paula Stewart of Houston, Mekayla Weller of Kennard, Sara Burdine of Chireno, and B. Joyce Kronk and husband Eric of Chireno; son, Nikoly Burdine of Sugarland; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burdine was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lorita Burdine.
