George Austin Knight

          Graveside services for ­George Austin Knight, 75, of Hudson, will be held Monday, November 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin with Bro. Richard Owens officiating.

          Mr. Knight was born July 19, 1946, in Lufkin, Texas, to John Knight and Georgia (Busby) Curry, and died Friday, November 19, 2021, in Lufkin.

          Mr. Knight served in the United States Air Force and was of Baptist faith. He was very involved in the city of Hudson. Mr. Knight served as the former mayor and sat on the city council for several years. He enjoyed reading and watching a good game of football. Mr. Knight was a family man.

         Mr. Knight is survived by his wife of 26 years, Venita Basham Knight of Hudson; son, James McDougald of Central; son, Aaron Knight of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Tessa and Joseph Headrick of Central; granddaughter and husband, Amanda and Justin Oliver of Central; granddaughter, Kelsey Knight of Lufkin; grandson, Austin Knight of Hudson; granddaughter, Journey Knight of Hudson; grandson, Dylan Knight of Hudson; grandson, James Headrick of Central; grandson, Jordan Headrick of Central; granddaughter, Hailey McDougald of Central; granddaughter, Mallori Oliver of Central; great-granddaughter, Raylynn Barrett of Lufkin; aunt, Naomi Ruth Durham of Lufkin; nephew and wife, Jason and Donna Rawlinson; and niece and husband, Tracey and Mark Christian.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Knight and Robert David Knight; sister, Cecilia Lou Rawlinson; first wife, Judy (Whitton) Knight; and 2 infant daughters.
