Gerald Wayne Whisenant

         Funeral services for Gerald Wayne Whisenant, 76, of Etoile, will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Pastor Bobby Whisenant and Kent Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.

         Mr. Whisenant was born on November 5, 1946, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Julius Whisenant and Bonnie (Todd) Whisenant, and died Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at his residence.

          Mr. Whisenant was born and raised in Lufkin and attended Central ISD. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Mr. Whisenant loved his guns and his trucks.  He was married to his loving wife Linda for 58 years. Mr. Whisenant adored his grandchildren. He worked at the Brookshire Brothers warehouse in Lufkin for 39 years as a forklift operator and order puller.

          Mr. Whisenant is survived by his wife, Linda Whisenant; sons, Danny Wayne Whisenant, Dennis Lynn Whisenant, and Donald Ray Whisenant and wife Vicki; daughters, Stacy Parrish and husband Cody, and Sherry Smith; grandchildren, Daniel Wesley Whisenant, Tristen Whisenant, Josh Whisenant, Jacob Whisenant, Jade Whisenant, Heather Lopez, Gracie Parrish, Rylee Parrish, Colton Smith, and Remington Minter; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Dunn.

          He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Bonnie Whisenant; and brother, Kenneth Whisenant.

          Pallbearers will be Daniel Whisenant, Joshua Pierson, Colton Smith, Remington Minter, Jacob Whisenant, and Tristen Whisenant.

          Honorary pallbearers will be David Lynn Dunn and Cody Parrish.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
