Gloria Garcia

          Funeral services for Gloria Garcia, 77, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Lufkin with Father Jose Marin officiating. Interment will be at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin, TX.

          Mrs. Garcia was born on July 8, 1946, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, to  Jose Garcia and Maria Luisa (Aguilar) Garcia, and died Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in Longview, Texas.

          Gloria enjoyed cooking for her family and family get-togethers.  She loved playing and interacting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; family was extremely important to her.  She loved to dance and play Loteria.  She also enjoyed a good novelas.  While in Mexico she served as a nurse for many years. 

          She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Arnoldo Garcia; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Rosa Garcia; daughter and son-in-law, Araceli and Luis Pantoja; grandchildren, Jennifer Garcia, Alex Garcia Jr., Jessica Garcia, Jelyitsa and husband Dennis Morales, Rafael Guevara IV, Gavin Hufsey, Roy Garcia Jr., Luis Pantoja Jr., Dayana Pantoja; great-grandchildren, Mia Mireles, Alyssa Mireles, Jordan Garcia, Jazlyn Fuentes, Arianna Garcia, Adrian Garcia, Axel Garcia, Katalina Hernandez, Anjelica Pantoja, Rylie Guevara; mother, Maria Luisa Garcia; brother and sister-in-law, Homero and Magda Garcia; sister and brother-in-law Josefina and Manuel Ramos; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

          She was preceded in death by her father; son, Alejandro Garcia; great-grandson, Jonathan Fuentes; brother, Eduardo Garcia; and sister, Clara Garcia.

          Pallbearers will be Roy Garcia, Luis Pantoja, Alex Garcia Jr., Rafael Guevara IV, Roy Garcia Jr., and Luis Pantoja Jr.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Adolfo Garcia and Roberto Garcia.

          Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.  Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.
