Funeral services for Guillermina “Guille” Sanchez, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Marcos Elizondo officiating. Interment will follow at Largent Cemetery.

            Mrs. Sanchez was born on June 10, 1943, in Villagran, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to the late Francisco Izaguirre and Delores (Escobedo) Izaguirre, and died Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Lufkin.

            Mrs. Sanchez was a woman of faith who loved the word of God and took pride in teaching her children to love Him. She taught school in Mexico and was a wonderful teacher. Mrs. Sanchez loved her family more than anything and enjoyed showing up for all of their events. She loved fishing and going to the lake. Mrs. Sanchez was an expert knitter and would knit all of the girls a dress for Christmas. She also made the best tamales for Christmas and Menudo for New Year’s.

            Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Margarito and Sandra Sanchez of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Romualdo “Rome” and Irma Sanchez of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Cuauhtémoc “Moe” and Nicole Sanchez of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Kevin Pierce of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Felipe and Aida Sanchez, Jr. of Harlingen, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Arturo “Lou” and Alicia Sanchez of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Eloy and Melissa Sanchez of San Antonio; grandchildren, Johnny & LeAnn Sanchez, Crystal Sanchez, Katie Sanchez, Allison Sanchez, Angie Sanchez, Adam Sanchez, Valeria and Daniel Frusha, Maximus Sanchez and Natalia Palacio, Elizabeth and Joel Dees, Kevin Pierce II and Maci Pierce, Alyssa and Christian Ibarra, Adelina and Jonas Fuentes, Anika Sanchez, Julian and Samantha Sanchez, Reyna and James Witherspoon, Karina and Joseph Rodriguez, Kristina Sanchez, Moses Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez, Jackie and Gerardo Hernandez; and great-grandchildren, Nate, Natalie, Ava, Sebastian, Aubree, Weston, Jaselyn, Luke, Royce, Elissa, Harper, Cohen, Sophie, Baby Gabirel, and Baby Aaron.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Felipe V. Sanchez; son, Aaron Sanchez; and sister, Magdalena Acevedo.

            Pallbearers will be Kevin Pierce, Adam Sanchez, Julian Sanchez, Moses Sanchez, Johnny Sanchez, and Jonathan Sanchez.

            Special memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas, 75904.

            Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2026, at Shafer Funeral Home.
