Harry Capps

           Funeral services for Harry Capps, 75, of Huntington, will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Diboll.

           Mr. Capps was born on December 12, 1948, in Longview, Texas, to the late Hickey Capps and Wilma (Russell) Capps, and died Monday, April 8, 2024, in Nacogdoches.

          Mr. Capps was a member of Oak Flat Missionary Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and work in his garden. Mr. Capps enjoyed watching a good western. Above all, he loved his family. 

          Mr. Capps is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Brian Thorne of Helmic, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Scooter and Jill Kelley of Alto, TX; grandson and wife, Trevor and Emiry Thorne of Helmic, TX; grandson and wife, Michael and Isabella Fleeman of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughter and husband, Andrea and Austin Essex of Sulphur, LA; grandson and wife, Brian and Caitlin Kelley of Carthage, TX; granddaughter and husband, Jodi and Garrett Bonds of Natchitoches, LA; grandson and wife, Colton and Meaghan Kelley of Minden, LA; great-grandchildren, Rylan, Brent, Chloe, Holly, Asa, Miriam, Peyton, Doc, and Kilee; brother, Robert Capps of Lufkin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Chloe Ann Capps; son, Harry Dean Capps; and brother, Eugene Capps.

          Pallbearers will be Trevor Thorne, Michael Fleeman, Brian Kelley, Colton Kelley, Austin Essex, and Garrett Bonds.

          Honorary pallbearer will be Kelly Collins.

          Special memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie St., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

          Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
