Funeral services for Harvey Dale Scholl, 76, of Lufkin, Texas, for the past 3 years, will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin with Rev. Joe D. Stanley officiating. A second funeral service will be held at the Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling, Illinois, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jay LeRette, a trucker’s chaplain from Rochelle, Illinois area and Harvey’s dear friend officiating. Interment will follow at Science Ridge Mennonite Cemetery.
Mr. Scholl was born on July 2, 1947, in KSB Hospital in Dixon, Illinois, to the late Maurice C. Scholl and Marcella D. (Liechty) Scholl, and died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in Lufkin.
Mr. Scholl started his education in 2 rural country schools. He graduated in 1966 from Polo Community High School of Polo, Illinois. Mr. Scholl became an electrician in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but his main career was truck driving for over 40 years. He was an owner-operator truck driver for many, many of those years. Mr. Scholl hauled loads in all 48 continental states of the U.S.A., plus into Canada! He enjoyed and felt privileged to see so much of God’s magnificent creations!
Most importantly, Harvey surrendered his heart and life to Jesus Christ, the World’s only living Savior, in his adult life. Since living in Texas, he has faithfully attended the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin, Texas. By the grace and goodness of God, Harvey has supported the Lord’s work generously around the world; bearing fruit for God’s eternal kingdom.
He is survived by his brother, David Scholl and wife Kay; brother-in-law, Dr. John Oujiri; sister-in-law, Kathryn Scholl; 4 aunts; 9 nephews; 4 nieces; along with many wonderful cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; brother, Duane; sister, Beth Ann; along with many aunts, uncles, and a few cousins.
Special memorials may be made to Harvey’s Church, First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin, 3200 S. Medford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901 or to a dedicated Christian Ministry of your choice.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2023, at the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin, prior to the funeral service. A second visitation will be held at the Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling, Illinois, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
