Helen Ruth Gaspard

          Memorial services for Helen Ruth Gaspard, 75, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, August  5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral in Lufkin with Rev. Cindy Doran officiating.

          Mrs. Gaspard was born on February 24, 1948, in Hemphill, Texas, to the late Clifton Rice and Helen Irene (Rushing) Ener, and died Monday, July 31, 2023, at her home.

          Mrs. Gaspard never met a stranger. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, cooking, and reading true crime novels. Mrs. Gaspard loved animals.

          She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Augustan Gaspard of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Tammy Ener of Huntington; sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Steve Locke of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Joyce Ener of Onalaska; sister-in-law, Deloris Major of Groves, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Edwin Hebert of Abbeville, LA; and brother-in-law, James Gaspard of Abbeville, LA; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

          Mrs. Gaspard was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Rice and Betty Stratton; brother, Gary Dwayne Ener; nephews, Derek Ryan Barlow and Cliff Craig; nieces, Pam Thibodeaux and Tanya Cunningham; and sister-in-law, Sister Elizabeth of Carmelite Monastery.
