James Dale Clevenger

          Mr. James Dale Clevenger, 81, of Huntington, TX was born on October 15, 1944, in Amaranth, PA, to the late Dale Stewart Clevenger and the late Myrtle Frances (Mellott) Clevenger, and died Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in Lufkin, TX.

          James proudly served in the Navy as an airplane mechanic. He was an outdoor enthusiast who absolutely loved hunting, fishing and guns. He became a certified gun smith and owner of his own gun smith business. He retired from Abitibi Paper Mill as a Machine Operator. He was proud to have earned his Certification of Machine Tool Technology while maintaining a 4.0 GPA after retirement.

          He was a devoted husband to his wife, Pat Clevenger, for 55 years, as well as a devoted father and grandfather. James always said his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids “got their smarts” from him. Everyone said he was a very kind man. The family would like to thank special friends Jimmy and Terrie, Jerry Mac and Ashley, and Terri Jo and Mike.

          He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and Robert Dixon of Baytown, TX; daughter, Sherry Anthony of Fremont, NE; grandson and wife, Caleb and Amanda Anthony of Kerrville, TX; grandson and wife, Blake and Taylor Dixon of Rockport, TX; grandson and wife, Bradley and Lexi Dixon of Dayton, TX; granddaughter and fiancé, Kathryn Clevenger and James Villanueva of Nacogdoches, TX; great-granddaughter, Amilia Anthony; great-grandson, Archer Dixon; great-grandson, Bryer Dixon; great-granddaughter, Finnley Dixon; lifelong family friends, Robert and Linda Dixon; and numerous other friends and extended family members.

           James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia “Pat” Clevenger; son, James Dell Clevenger; brother, John W. Clevenger; and sister, Darlene Clevenger.
