James Sigler

          Funeral services for James Sigler, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with  Bro. Richard Smith and Bro. Trey Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Lufkin.

          Mr. James Sigler was born on March 5, 1941, in Elizabeth, Louisiana, to the late Lennox Lafayette Sigler and Edna (Chaney) Sigler, and died Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his residence.

          Mr. Sigler served in the United States Navy and was of Baptist Faith. He retired from Texaco Oil Refinery in Port Arthur, Texas and then went on to his second career at TXU Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose, Texas, where he retired from. Mr. Sigler was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to work in the yard. He was a very interesting man who loved to laugh and was always up for a good time. If you didn’t know him, you definitely missed out. Mr. Sigler had a gruff exterior but had a good kind heart on the inside. He was a family man who dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

          Mr. Sigler is survived by his wife, Linda (Smith) Sigler of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Josie and Russ Flanigan of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Sydney Sigler of Waco; son and daughter-in-law, Hunter Sigler and Alex Shouse of Austin; grandchildren, Thomas Garrett, Mattie Garrett, Tiffany Flanigan, Will Flanigan, Courtney DeBusk, Titus Myers, Lennox Sigler, Sadie Jo Sigler, and Artemis Fogle; and great-grandson, K.J. Douglas.

          He was preceded in death by his parents, Lennox and Edna Sigler; and sister, Carly Winters.

          Pallbearers will be Russ Flanigan, Jamie Havard, Thomas Garrett, Will Flanigan, Noah Sowell, and Kris Douglas.

          Honorary pallbearer will be Darren Smith.

          Special memorials may be made to The Joseph House, 5783 F.M. 841 Lufkin, TX 75901.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.
