Memorial services for James Craig Witter, 49, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wallace Chapel, located at 908 FM 3258, Lufkin, Texas, 75904, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.
James Craig Witter was born on August 9, 1976, in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Merle Edgar Witter and Sonjia Gail (Palmore) Morris, and died Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at his residence.
Craig was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and hanging out with his buddies. Craig was the life of the party.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jaysa and Coy Bennefield of San Augustine; granddaughter, Emmy Jo Bennefield of San Augustine; grandson, Bubba Call Bennefield of San Augustine; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Glenda Witter of Hudson; sister and brother-in-law, Cassie and Joey Bynum of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Nikki and John Mayhugh of Chireno; love of his life, Rhonda Brooks of Lufkin; niece, Kylee Bynum of Lufkin; nephew, Jacob Mayhugh of Chireno; nephew, Garrett Mayhugh of Chireno; lifelong friends, Kelly Box, Sirena Stokes, and Julie Robinson; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daylon Witter; stepfather, Tubby Stringer; and his grandparents.
