Funeral services for James “Jim” Young, Jr., 59, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Largent Cemetery.

          Mr. Young was born on November 22, 1965, in Houston, Texas, to James Lee Young, Sr. and Bertha (Crone) Young, and died Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Lufkin surrounded by his family.

          Mr. Young was an avid Aggie and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were his passions. He enjoyed playing fantasy football with his friends and family. Mr. Young was a hard worker and worked locally at Temple-Inland. He loved helping 4H students with their rabbits and cows. Above all, Jim loved and adored his family especially his wife Christy and daughter Mikayla.    

           He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Christy Young of Lufkin; daughter, Mikayla Young of Lufkin; parents, James Lee Young and Bertha Young of Lufkin; brother and wife, Joe and Katherine Young of Humble, TX; brother and wife, Jeff and Jenny Young of College Station, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

          He was preceded in death by his nephew, Preston Young; grandparents, Grover and Susan Young; and grandparents, Burtis and Billie Crone.  

          Pallbearers will be Jay Bennett, Eddie Pepper, Steve Dillard, Brent Dillard, Kyle Young, and Conner Young.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Dillion Young and Kory Young.

          Special memorials may be made to Angelina County 4H Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 908 Lufkin, TX 75902.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home.
