Graveside services for James “Jimmy” Lawrence, 94, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin with Dr. John Greene officiating.
Mr. Lawrence was born on December 15, 1930, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late George Edward Lawrence and Helen Marie (Forland) Lawrence, and died Friday, January 10, 2025, in Boerne, Texas.
Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He served as Vice President of Sumners Mechanical Contractors and also was honored to be their pilot of the company’s Cessna Cardinal RG. He also worked for John Bonner’s roofing company. Jimmy enjoyed going on long trips with his wife in their RV and in his little white 1980 MGB. He created many custom metal works that are now in the possession of various family members and kept his home landscaping manicured! Jimmy shared his love of the weather with his grandchildren. Most of all, he loved to share the message of Christ!
Mr. Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Diane Jarvis; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Theresa Lawrence; granddaughter and husband, Susan and Jeff Espensen; granddaughter and husband, Keri and Chris Nash; granddaughter and husband, Chelsea and Colton Coon; grandson, James T. Lawrence, Jr.; great-granddaughters, Ella Nash, Emma Espensen, Eden Espensen and Emery Coon; great-grandsons, Caleb Nash, Brady Espensen, Ethan Scheusner, Tristan Leifeste, and Bodhi Coon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jonie Lawrence; son, Mike Lawrence; and grandson, Nick Leifeste.
