A graveside service for Jane Annette Cosby Sutton, 85, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, Dallas, Texas, with Pastor Ty Phillips officiating.
Jane Annette Cosby Sutton, beloved mother, grandmother, and educator, was born on August 12, 1940, in Courtland, Mississippi, to the late Homer Lee Cosby and the late Clara Leslie (Simmons) Cosby, and died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Lufkin, Texas.
A graduate of Batesville High School’s Class of 1958, Jane went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and her master’s degree from the University of Memphis. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Alan Lewis Sutton, who preceded her in death in 2018.
Mrs. Sutton devoted her career to teaching and inspiring high school students. She retired from MacArthur High School in the Irving Independent School District after many years of service. Throughout her life, Jane exemplified a deep love of learning and a steadfast faith. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where she cherished lifelong friendships and fellowship.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Denise Gee and husband Kevin of Lufkin, Texas, and Michelle May and husband Robert of Haslet, Texas; her grandson, Greyson Gee of Austin, Texas; and her granddaughters, Lauren Gee of College Station, Texas, and Hope May of Arlington, Texas.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Montana Heaslet, Amber Stephenson, Kimberly Thomas, Machele Riley, and Brenda Mosley for their kindness, love, and compassionate care for Jane in her final days.
