Memorial services for Jeffrey Lee Corbett, 67, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lufkin with Rev. Gordon Blackman, Jr. officiating.
Jeff was born August 20, 1956, in Whiteville, NC to the late Kenneth Corbett, Jr. and Mildred (White) Corbett and died January 19, 2024.
Jeff graduated from De Quincy High School in 1974 and went on to receive a B.S. in Forestry from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
Jeff had a long career in the forestry industry before retiring to Wyoming to pursue his passion for the outdoors. When he wasn’t working at REI selling camping equipment, he was known to be traveling around the world searching for the best views this world could offer, from Scotland to the Appalachian Mountains, or canoeing the Canadian boundary waters, nature is where he found peace. Jeff traveled and moved a lot but that never stopped him from finding a church home to worship and be around other like-minded individuals. He served faithfully for Gideons International for more than 30 years and enjoyed mentoring to youth that found themselves in the juvenile detention centers around Texas.
It would be hard to speak about Jeff without mentioning his love for LSU sports. He loved watching the Tigers play but more importantly he loved reading all the news and inside sports stories every morning and sharing his daily finds with his sons, Kenneth and Stephen.
Jeff could carry on a conversation with anyone and never met a stranger, through that he made many friends and impacted many lives. He will be deeply missed by his family and all the friends he met along the way.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Caitlin Corbett of Richardson and Stephen and Emily Corbett of Lufkin; granddaughter, Lillian Corbett of Lufkin; grandson, Samuel Corbett of Lufkin; granddaughter, Sylvie Corbett of Richardson; and brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Debbie Corbett of Pisgah Forest, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 607 Janeway Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904 or The Gideons International at www.gideons.org/donate.
