Funeral Services for Jerry Waller, 82, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, January 09,2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Mark Wilke. Jerry Waller was born on January 20, 1943, in Lufkin, Tx. He passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Lufkin.
Jerry shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Joyce. They were married on September 6, 1962, and for 63 years walked side by side, building a home, working through life’s challenges, celebrating its joys, and loving one another with unwavering devotion.
Jerry worked for many years as a produce manager with Safeway and AppleTree. After 16 years, he retired from Walmart, where he served as an assistant manager, assisting with opening new stores throughout Texas and Louisiana. He had a strong work ethic and took great pride in everything he did. Jerry was a giving man who would help anyone in need, and he had a way of making everyone feel special. He enjoyed vacationing at the beach, spending time outdoors, bird watching, playing games, and watching movies with his grandchildren. Most of all, he was a devoted family man. He was simply the greatest. He was a man of faith and often said, “When the good Lord is ready, He will take me home.”
Mr. Waller is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Waller; his children, Diedre Waller of Lufkin, Mona, and Bob Melton of Lufkin, Shane and Michelle Waller of Lufkin, and Scott and Julie Waller of The Woodlands; grandchildren Summer Valadez, Michael Sheddan, Ashley and Brandon Bartoskewitz, Alexis and Justin Hudspeth, Zachary Waller, Kailey and Ryan Bowers, Allison Waller and Jackson Waller; great-grandchildren Connor, Ava, Addison, and Hannah; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Linda Slaten; and brother-in-law Billy Odom.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
