A visitation for Jessie Luther, 71, of Zavalla, Texas, will be held Monday, May 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home.

          Mrs. Luther was born on September 29, 1954, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, to the late Arthur Largent and Myrtle (Brierly) Largent, and died Friday, May 22, 2026, in Lufkin, Texas.

          Jessie was a great cook and enjoyed crocheting in her free time. She loved scrolling Facebook, and though she was petite, she drove a big wheeler truck. She was great with kids and helped to raise a million of them, including her own kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

          Mrs. Luther is survived by her husband, Doyle Luther of Zavalla; son, Tillman Luther, Sr. and his fiancé, Yvette Peuttus of Lufkin; son, Daniel Luther of Zavalla; daughter, Tanya Luther of Zavalla; granddaughter, Britany Luther of Evadale, Texas; granddaughter, Kelli Ware of Nacogdoches, Texas; granddaughter, Samantha Ware of Nacogdoches; granddaughter, Destiney Johnson of Lufkin; granddaughter, Tiffany Luther of Lufkin; granddaughter, Mercedes Luther of Pollok, Texas; granddaughter, Madison Luther of Nacogdoches; grandson, Tillman Luther, Jr. of Zavalla; grandson, Travis Luther of Zavalla; grandson, Hunter Luther of Chester, Texas; grandson, Daniel Luther of Nacogdoches; grandson, Dillon Luther of Nacogdoches; grandson, Jordan Ware of Nacogdoches; grandson, Logan Luther of Zavalla; grandson, Landon Luther of Zavalla; many great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Largent Isbell of Neches, Texas; sister, Eva Anderson of Palestine, Texas; and brother, Rodney Largent and wife, Laura of Belton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

         She was preceded in death by her parents; young son, Travis Dewayne Luther; grandson, Lucas Ware; grandson, Cecil Proctor, Jr.; grandson, Paul Proctor; sister, Alta Largent; and brother, Arthur “Peanut” Largent, Jr.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Largent, John Norman, Kent Waggonner, Travis Luther, T-man Luther and Caleb Wall.
