A Mass of Christian Burial for Jesus Don Juan Arellano, 68, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. Interment will follow Forest Haven Cemetery in Diboll.
Jesus was born on January 18, 1956, in Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, Mexico, to the late Alejandro Don Juan Rodriguez and Maria De Jesus Arellano, and died Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Lufkin.
Jesus was the oldest of his siblings and was very close with each of them. He would call them every weekend to remind them how much he loved them. Jesus loved spending time with all of his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed dancing to all types of music, and especially loved Rancheras. Jesus was happy, loving, and very friendly. He liked to BBQ and made an amazing smoked chicken.
He was a loving, kind, and respectful husband, known affectionately as "Chuy", "Jesse", and "Papi" by his loved ones and wife. He always liked to have company, even if he was just going to the store for sodas.
Jesus is survived by his wife of 8 years, Gloria Don Juan of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Manuel and Efigenia Don Juan of Mexico; brother and sister-in-law, Ambrocio and Maria Luisa Don Juan of Mexico; brother and sister-in-law, Juan Jose and Transito Don Juan of Mexico; sister and brother-in-law, Maria Eugenia Don Juan and Pablo Herrera of Mexico; sister and brother-in-law, Leticia Don Juan and Rogelio Morales of Mexico; brother, Mario Don Juan of Mexico; sister and brother-in-law, Maribel Don Juan and Francisco Ramos of McKinney, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Maria Luisa Don Juan of Austin, TX; his beloved nieces and nephews; along with other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers Victor Don Juan Arellano, Manuel Don Juan Arellano, Juan Jose Don Juan Arellano, Ambrocio Don Juan Arellano, Francisco Ramos, Rogelio Morales Vargas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mario Don Juan Arellano.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
