Funeral services for John Shoemaker, 72, of Pollok, will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Clawson Assembly of God in Pollok, Texas, with Josh Poage and Pastor Kevin Poage officiating. Interment will follow at Largent Cemetery in Lufkin.
Mr. Shoemaker was born on August 10, 1953, in Lufkin, to the Wiley Jefferson “Jadie” and Willie May (Duffy) Shoemaker and died Saturday, May 30, 2026, in The Woodlands, Texas.
Mr. Shoemaker enjoyed being outdoors and loved working in his yard. He had a passion for animals and enjoyed raising goats and tending his cows. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing with his grandkids and watching baseball. The Houston Astros were his favorite team. He was also a man of God and was a dedicated member of his church.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lavinia and Mark Bollier of Trinity, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Reagan and Earlene Duncan of Trinity, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Heather Shoemaker of Pollok; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Hannah Shoemaker of Temple, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Herschel and Pat Shoemaker of Lufkin; sister, Diane Kolb of Lufkin; sister, Edith Turner of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Shoemaker; and brothers, Felton Shoemaker, Wiley Shoemaker, Jr., and Gene Shoemaker .
Pallbearers will be Shayne Dickerson, Clay Walker, Garrett Duncan, Jayden Bollier, Forrest Shoemaker, and Devan Wise.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Rabago and Scotty Hamilton.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Clawson Assembly of God.
