John David Haboush Obituary

John David Haboush was born November 30, 1943, in Bay City, Texas to John Joseph Haboush and Frances Helen Ray. He passed away on May 16, 2024, in Tyler, Texas at the age of 80.

In his time on earth, John, besides his black felt, wore many hats. From 1966 until 1970, He served in the United States Air Force at Bergstrom Air Force Base. He married the one true love of his life, Wanda, in 1966. They moved to Austin and started a family. In 1970, they moved to Channelview where they would call home for the next thirty-five years. He began his career as a mechanic where he spent countless hours under the hood of a car diagnosing and repairing for many local customers. After a short time, he and Wanda opened C-View Service Company, servicing air conditioning and heating units for many years. Later, continuing with the entrepreneurial spirt and following a dream, they opened Specialty Saddles, making saddles and tack for clients nationwide, including the United States Border Patrol. He spent his retirement years in Tennessee Colony, enjoying his pastures on his tractor and the company of his beloved canine companion, Muffin.

John loved the outdoors. Whether camping, hunting, fishing or on horseback, he loved to be outside. A typical hunting season would be spent dragging his family to west Texas or Colorado in search of a trophy with his kids begging him to stop snoring in the camper.

One of his favorite past-times was square dancing. John was a member of five different square dance clubs and enjoyed not only participating but teaching others as well. His sense of humor and antics endeared him to many in the group.

Wherever you would find him, you could bet he would be listening to his country and western music. His last days were spent with the peaceful sounds of his favorite songs.
