John Marshall "Buck" Doiron

        Memorial services for John Marshall “Buck” Doiron will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, TX.  Please bring your memories, stories, and “Buckisms” to share as we gather to celebrate his life in an easy-going, casual style he would have enjoyed.

        Mr. Doiron was born on April 1, 1947, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to the late Earl J. and Dessie (West) Doiron and died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

        Mr. Doiron retired after 40 years of service as a Civil Engineer from the US Forest Service, which allowed him to see and travel the United States and meet people.  He was an active member of the Lufkin Host Lions Club and spent his retirement years volunteering through the Lions Club and organizations such as the National Wild Turkey Federation.  He shared his love and passion through his stories and his cooking.

         He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Claudia; daughters Aimee Gates and husband, Jason, Brandi Allen and husband David, and Adrieanne Doiron; grandchildren, Claire Gates and husband Wesley Pack, Luke Allen, and Hannah Allen; brother Bruce Doiron; brothers-in-law, Ambrose Michiels and Hugh E “Butch” Phillips Jr; nieces Bethany Doiron Haywood and husband Nathan, Gretchen Doiron Vasquez and husband Wil, and Cheryl Phillips Hunsicker and husband Mike; nephews Mark Michiels and wife Melissa, Adam Michiels and wife Marcy, and Steven Phillips.

          He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl J. and Dessie Doiron; sister Earline Michiels; mother & father-in-law, Helen and Hugh E. Phillips Sr; and sister-in-law Gale Phillips.
