Graveside services for Johnnie Lea Emerson, 81, of Wells, will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells with Pastor Paul Mettlen and Jim Maddox officiating.
Mrs. Emerson was born on April 30, 1944, in Wells, Texas, to the late John Dave Wise and Ollie (Holsomback) Wise, and died Monday, May 26, 2025, in Jasper.
Mrs. Emerson was a very talented seamstress she could do just about anything with her sewing machine. She loved her independence and enjoyed going thrift shopping. Mrs. Emerson liked to tend to her flowers and veggie garden. She was a great decorator and liked to decorate for every holiday and occasion. Above all Johnnie loved her family and was known for taking care of everyone.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Janet and Jim Maddox of Wells, TX; son, Danny Carroll Emerson of Alto, TX; grandchildren, Fadra Terral of Alto, TX, Dillan Emerson of Katy, TX, Dallas Stanley of Ft. Worth, TX, and Kenzie Burnett of Wells, TX; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Ollie Mae Monk; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlton Daniel Emerson; brothers, John (Jay) D. Wise, Archie (L.V.) wise, and Hugh Wise.
