Jose “Chepe” Hector Turcios

          Funeral services for Jose “Chepe” Hector Turcios, 79, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Pastor Edgar Marañon officiating. Interment will follow at Largent Cemetery.

          Mr. Turcios was born August 7, 1942, in Concepción de Oriente, Department La Unión, El Salvador, to Candido Turcios and Maria Turcios Vanegas, and died Wednesday, September 8, 2021, in Lufkin.

          Mr. Turcios attended Timber Creek Church in Lufkin. He enjoyed joking with his friends and family. Mr. Turcios loved animals, to go shopping, and to watch over his grandchildren.

          He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Osiris Turcios and Fidel Quiteño of El Salvador; daughter and son-in-law, Dulce Turcios and Efren Turcios of Lufkin; daughter, Noris Turcios of North Carolina; sons, Olvin Turcios and Marel Turcios, both of North Carolina; granddaughter, Noelia Turcios of El Salvador; grandson, Alex Quiteño Turcios of England; granddaughter, Marjorie Quiteño Turcios of El Salvador; granddaughter, Cristy Turcios of Lufkin; grandson, Noe Turcios of Lufkin; granddaughter, Faith Turcios of Lufkin; granddaughter, Diana Vanegas of El Salvador; nephews, Jeofilo Bonilla of Colorado, Wilian Turcios of New York, Jiemi Turcios of New York, Carlos Vanegas of Lufkin, Tulio Cruz of Georgia, and Jaime Bonilla of Lufkin; nieces, Briany Bonilla of Lufkin, Emus Bonilla of Lufkin, Lom Bonilla of Lufkin, Celina Vanegas of Lufkin, and Cinthia Rios of Colorado; and cousins, Alfredo Bonilla, Jose R. Turcios, and Adolfo Turcios, all of Lufkin.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cristina Galvez; son, Oner Noe Turcios; and daughter, Ruth Maryori Turcios.

          Pallbearers will be Jose R. Turcios, Efren Turcios, Alfredo Bonilla, Arturo Jacinto, Estuardo Fernandez and Uriel Ramos.

          Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
