Funeral services for Juan Garza, 57, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Marcos Elizondo officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

            Mr. Garza was born on November 24, 1967, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to Carlos Garza and Vicenta (Alvarado) Garza, and died Sunday, February 9, 2025, in Lufkin.

            Mr. Garza was a member of Iglesia Cristiana Bautista in Lufkin. He worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for many years. Mr. Garza was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he always put his family first. He loved to play with his grandchildren and was the party planner of the family. Mr. Garza had many hobbies including cooking, baking, T-Shirt and snow cone making, and working outside. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar as well as other instruments and played in a few local bands.

           Mr. Garza is survived by his wife, Emilia Garza of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Dora and Carlos Hernandez of San Antonio; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Angie Tovar of Lufkin; daughter, Nelisha Garza of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Carla Garza and Saul Hernandez of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Leeann Garza and Antonio Arellanes; daughter, Alejandra Banegas of Lufkin; son, Edguin Banegas of Lufkin; daughter, Analia Garza of Lufkin; God daughter, Mariel Garza of Lufkin; grandson and wife, Carlos and Ariana Hernandez of San Antonio; granddaughter and husband, Jasmine and Zebastian Meza of San Antonio; grandson, Juan Carlos of San Antonio; granddaughter, Mia Hernandez of San Antonio; grandson, Joseph Hernandez of San Antonio; granddaughter, Nicole Hernandez of San Antonio; grandson, Johnny Tovar, Jr. of Lufkin; grandson, Sebastian Tovar of Lufkin; granddaughter, Alizza Tovar of Lufkin; grandson, Noah Tovar of Lufkin; grandson, Jesus Hernandez of Lufkin; grandson, Carlos Hernandez of Lufkin; granddaughter, Emily Dragustinovis of Lufkin; granddaughter, Damaris Dragustinovis of Lufkin; grandson, Antonio Arellanes, Jr. of Lufkin; grandson, Tomás Arellanes of Lufkin; grandson, Preston King of Houston; great-granddaughter, Alaia Hernandez of San Antonio; great-granddaughter, Azalea Hernandez of San Antonio; great-grandson, Zebastian Meza of San Antonio; mother and father, Carlos Garza and Vicenta (Alvarado) Garza; brother and sister-in-law, Jesus and Maria Garza of San Antonio; sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Jason Penick of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law Reynold and Rosalva Garza of San Antonio; brother and sister-in-law, Trinidad Garza and Maria Fernandez of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Ricardo and Jessica Garza of Lufkin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his brother, Jose Alberto Garza.

            Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
