Memorial services for Judy Shotwell Dixon, 77, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.

          Mrs. Dixon was born on April 7, 1947, in Conroe, Texas, to Mantooth “Bug” and Ruth Shotwell, and died Sunday, March 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

          Mrs. Dixon was a proud graduate of Lufkin High School.  Judy dedicated 40 years to her career as a beautician, bringing happiness to everyone she met. Her warmth, talent and kind spirit made her more than just a stylist-she was a cherished friend to many. She was an avid sportsman, especially anything to do with Dallas, Lufkin, (never missing any of her sons events) and cheering for her grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. To those who knew her, Judy was a “legendary Southern cook”. Whether it was taking care of her son and his friends during their childhood, cookies to her friends, cakes to church, or Thanksgiving meal with the family at Dollarhide, food always meant love.  She was a giver, never a taker, and lived by the philosophy of “Pass It Forward”. As a 39 year breast cancer survivor, Judy fought with strength and resilience. Cancer ultimately took her body, but it never took her spirit.

          She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Cami Dixon; adored grandchildren, Jake, Shelby and Max; great-grandchild, Paisley; and her dear friend, Truitt Dixon.

          She was preceded in death by her parents, Mantooth “Bug” and Ruth Shotwell; brother, Bennett Shotwell; numerous extended family members nephews and aunts.

          In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her honor.

          Judy was incredibly appreciative of her Pioneer Crossing Family, First Christian Church, ”The Buoys” and the hospice team for their care and support.

          In honor of Judy’s vibrant spirit, the family asks attendees to wear red.
