Judy Kimmell Harper Obituary

           Funeral Services for Judy Kimmell Harper, 69, of Wells, Texas, will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Maddox officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

          Mrs. Harper was born on April 11, 1956, to the late Doyle Kimmel and the late Jeanne Elledge in Winters, Texas, and died Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Wells, Texas.

          She worked as a Dispatcher for the Kimble County Sheriff’s Office, Etech Research Labs in Kimble County. She was also a proud volunteer as a Kimble County Emergency Medical Technician and helped Meals on Wheels deliver meals on the Ranch Route in Kimble County. She moved to the Lufkin/Wells area in 1993 where she worked for the Lufkin State Supported Living Center. She also worked as a corrections officer at the private prison in Diboll. Before her retirement, she worked at the City of Wells Water Department office. In her free time, Judy enjoyed sewing and doing crafts.

          She is survived by son, Robert Kalka and his wife, Pam of Wells; son, Joseph Kalka of Wells; granddaughter and fiancé, Hope Kalka and Ethan Adcock of Wells; grandson and wife, James Dennis and Casey Malnar of Wells; granddaughter, Cheyanne Kalka of Pollok, Texas; grandson and wife, Wiliam and Angel Kalka of Pollok; granddaughter, Montana Kalka of Longview, Texas; grandson, Aaron Kalka of Wells; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda Dorsey of Abilene, Texas; brother, Joe Archer of Medina Lake, Texas; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Melanie and Todd Pounds, and Carolyn Easter; and many bonus children.

          She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Loyd T. “Cowboy” Harper; her parents; son, Christopher Kalka; brother, Neal Archer; and sisters, Alene Davis and Linda Bryce.

          Pallbearers will be William Kalka, Aaron Kalka, James Dennis Malnar, Conner Malnar, Todd Pounds, and Pat Sanchez.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Melanie Pounds and the Hospice in the Pines nursing staff.

          Visitation will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home.
