Kel Dean Carroll

         Services for Kel Dean Carroll, 63, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, September 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Interment will follow at Fielders Cemetery.

          Kel Carroll was born September 18, 1960, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Hubert and Mary Carroll, and passed away on September 21, 2023, at his home in Lufkin, Texas, surrounded by his family.

          Kel was a logger his whole life and worked in a family logging business for many years with his daddy and son. He was always in the woods regardless for work or play, and loved to hunt, fish, cook, garden, hot rods, NASCAR races, and building things.

         Kel is survived by his precious wife, Brenda Carroll of 43 years; son and daughter-in-law. Brian and Amanda Carroll; daughter, Kacie Carroll; sister and husband, Liz and Steve Reece; granddaughter, Salaira Carroll; granddaughter, Nova Rae Carroll; grandson, Kage Lane Carroll; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

          Kel was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Mary Carroll; niece, Becca; and father-in-law, James Poskey.

          Pallbearers will be Brian Carroll, Doug Deaton, Randal Lamon, Steve Haney, Victor Matteson, and Glenn Smallwood.

          Honorary pallbearer will be Bubba Powers.

          Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2023, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service.
