Larry Chapman

         Funeral services for Larry Chapman, 85, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. John Green officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Lufkin.

          Mr. Chapman was born on February 6, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri , to the late Albert T. Chapman and Eva P. Honsinger, and died Friday, December 8, 2023, in Lufkin.

          Mr. Chapman served in the US Army from 1961-1964. He was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Lufkin. Mr. Chapman was a very patriotic man and he enjoyed serving his country. He retired from being a police officer after 33 years of service. Mr. Chapman was a good fisherman and loved to travel.  

          He is survived by his wife, of 62 ½ years Linda Chapman of Lufkin; son, Bryon Chapman of Mt. Belvieu TX; brother, Dennis Chapman of Rancho Palos Verdes CA; and brother and wife, Ronald and Mary Chapman of Independence MO.

          He was preceded in death by his parents.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Roland McGee, Jim Gillam, Norman Blewer, Gerald Conner, and Woody Doyle.

          Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Shafer Funeral Home.
