Graveside services for Linda Baker Gammons, 79, of Lufkin, Texas, will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Zavalla Cemetery in Zavalla, with Brother Cary Modisette officiating.
Mrs. Gammons was born on April 14, 1946, in Zavalla, Texas, to the late Levy Baker and Martha (Cryer) Baker, and died on Friday, January 2, 2026, in Lufkin.
She enjoyed spending time camping and fishing and loved to dance. She was kind, caring, and would do anything for anyone that needed her help. She was a true caregiver and even helped to raise other people’s children. She absolutely loved and adored her family.
Mrs. Gammons is survived by her daughter, Jenny Johns; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Allen Young; son, Chester Gammons; niece, Chandra Quembly and husband, J.R.; niece, Brenda Faver and husband, Robert; nephew, David Cortez and wife, Brenda; nephew, Gary Cortez and wife, Cindy; nephew, William Crain and wife Tiffany; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Levy Baker; mother, Martha Jane Cryer; brother, Gail Baker; sister, Clareen Cryer; sister, Vernell Baker; sister, Melba Baker; son, James Lynn Simmons; daughter, Patricia Peel; daughter, Sarah San Miguel; nephew, Kennith Crain; and nephew, Luke Branum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Claussen, Heston Hamm, Allen Young, David Cortez, Joe San Miguel, Gary Cortez, Robert Faver, and William Crain.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2026, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
