Linda Garrett

          Funeral services for Linda (De La Torre) Garrett, 72, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin.

           Ms. Garrett was born on July 11, 1952, in Jerez, Mexico, to the late Jose Catarino Perez Sr., and Maria (Garcia) Perez, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024, in Lufkin.

           Ms. Garrett is survived by her daughter Teresa Ballenger; brothers, Jose, Antonio, and Gilberto Perez; sisters, Maria Hendry and Sofia Jasso; 7 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

           She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eddie Ray Garrett; and brothers, Hector Perez and Catarino Perez.

          Pallbearers will be Thomas Anthony Perez, Jose Antonio Perez, Jr., Christopher Perez, Stephen Perez, Jose Antonio Perez III, and Brandon Ketchum.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Perez and Hector Perez, Jr.

          Special memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 2216-7023.

          Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service..
