Louis Jerald Smith

       Graveside services for Louis “Jerald” Smith (Pop) will be held  Monday, March 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Simpson Cemetery in Pollok.

       On March 15, 2019 Jerald passed away at home with his family at his side.

       He was a beloved son, brother, father, grand-father & great grand-father.

       Jerald was born February 12, 1938 in Wells, Texas to Leland (Shorty) and Helen Rozell Smith. 

        In 1958 he married the love of his life, Larie Manley.

        He loved to hunt, fish & spend time with family & friends.  He retired from Southwest Color Printing after 40+ years.  Afterwards he worked at Days Inn & Pinecrest Retirement Center in security.

        He is survived by his son, Kenneth & Belinda Smith; daughter, Deneice & Jerry; daughter, Leigh & Doug Peery; son, Stephen Smith & daughter, Ashley & Mike Ancira.  Grandchildren & family, Kisha McGuire, Leland Smith, Dustin, Clint & Davin Peery; sixteen great grandchildren;  sisters, Becky Smith and Barbara & Jim Gregory;  brothers-in-law, Sheryl & Carol Manley & Jim Allen; and  numerous nephews & nieces.

         He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Larie; parents-in law Doug & Commie Manley; sister Toby & husband John Maley; brother, Rozell & wife Nancy; brother-in -law E.C. Smith; sister-in-law, Sandra Allen & son-in-law, Billy Vardeman.

         Special friends of the family are Billie Jackson & Jim Gordon Bell.

          A very special thank you goes to Dr. Kavitha Pinnamaneni and the ladies who went through this journey with him.

          Pallbearers will be Randy Brewer, Kenneth Click, Dean Mosley, Larry Byars, Jamie McGuire, Dustin Peery, Clint Peery and Davin Peery.

           Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Flowers, Joel Sessions, J.L. Collins, L.E. Smith, Mike Byrd, Charlie Hearn, Bobby Jackson.

          In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to  St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Simpson Cemetery .

          Visitation will be held Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shafer Funeral Home Chapel.
