Memorial services for Lyn Frances Elledge, 96, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, January 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at The Monastery of the Infant Jesus in Lufkin with Fr. R.B. Williams officiating. Inurnment will take place at IOOF Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma.
Ms. Elledge born on November 27, 1927, in Norman, Oklahoma, to the late Harry Lee Elledge and Audrey (Dearman) Futch, and died Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Lufkin.
Ms. Elledge was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Lufkin. She loved serving her church and was a big Pro-Life advocate. Ms. Elledge enjoyed reading and writing about the Catholic religion. She was a faithful member of The Dominican order of lay Catholics. Ms. Elledge received a BA from the University of Oklahoma and taught elementary school before becoming a social worker. While working as a social worker in Los Angeles, she obtained her master’s degree from California State University.
Ms. Elledge is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Cessna of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Martha Ann and Ernie Iverson of Lufkin; niece, Elizabeth Iverson of Cypress, CA; niece and husband, Andrea and Mike Montejano of Sterling, CO; niece and husband, Sharon and Kevin Hall of Dallas, TX; niece, Christi Peterson of Torrance, CA; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joan Elledge; nephew, Preston Gilley; and niece, Cynthia Childs.
