Manuel Padilla

          Funeral services for Manuel Padilla, 73, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lufkin with Father Jose Marin officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories in Lufkin.

          Mr. Padilla was born on March 6, 1950, in (El Maguey) San Francisco Del Rincon Guanajuato, Mexico, to the late Maximino Padilla and Josefina Parra, and died Thursday, February 1, 2024, in Lufkin.

          Manuel dearly loved his grandchildren.  He enjoyed carpentry and loved music and dancing.  He worked for Lufkin Industries and retired after 25 years of service.  After retiring, he would often go door to door selling produce in his community.  He also loved baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves.  Often he would spend his summertime on his porch enjoying the great outdoors.

          He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maria Francisca Padilla of Lufkin, TX; son, Jose Manuel Padilla of Lufkin, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Adela and Oscar Castro of Nacogdoches, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Jose Cruz Padilla and Juana of Lufkin, TX; daughter, Martha Alicia Padilla of Lufkin, TX; daughter, Rosa Linda Padilla of Lufkin, TX; son Maximino Padilla of Lufkin, TX; grandchildren, Raquel, Hannah, Analyssa, Anissa, Andrea, Monica, Oscar Javier, Audrey, Risa, Alia, Angel, Yaneli, Celesse, Jannelle, Maya, Jayson, and Alexis; and 16 great grandchildren.

          He was preceded in death by his Parents; brother, Jose Luis Padilla, and sister, Margarita Padilla.

          Pallbearers will be Jose Manuel Padilla, Jose Cruz Padilla, Maximino Padilla, Oscar Castro, Jason Wilson, and Jayson Smith.

          Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
