Marguerite "Pat" Edwards Obituary

Memorial services for Marguerite “Pat” Edwards, 99, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church located at 919 S. John Redditt Drive in Lufkin, with Fr. David Faulkner officiating.

Marguerite Patrick (“Pat”) Edwards, 99, more affectionately known as “Nanna Pat” shed her earthly bonds for angel’s wings on January 9, 2024. Her positive and gracious spirit was infectious and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Pat was born in Austin, Texas on October 11, 1924. As a child, Pat was raised in Houston with her parents and her 2 siblings. After marrying Walter Wright, Pat was a devoted military wife and raised three children in several locations, including Yokohama, Japan, and finally in Abilene. Years later, after a long and successful career in banking in Abilene and Dallas, she retired in Lufkin to be near family. She was a Lufkin resident for 40 years. While in Lufkin she married Eldridge Ryman who passed in 1991, then marrying Paul Edwards in 2014. Pat was a positive influence on the lives of many and had a vivacious personality that naturally attracted everyone she met into her orbit. She was loved by family and friends alike and will be deeply missed by all. We are comforted and blessed knowing that Pat is with Jesus surrounded by her loving husbands, both sons and wonderful grandson.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Susie Wilson and husband/son-in-law John Wilson; daughter-in-law, Carol Wright; stepdaughter, Judy Holmes; grandchildren, Jim Wright and wife Amy (and their children Jack, Jeb, and Jared), Billy Wright and wife Blessing (and their children Cole, Summer, and Autumn), Chad Wright, and Grey Wilson and wife Edith (and their son, Luke).

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Wright, Eldridge Ryman and Paul Edwards; sons, Major General James M. Wright and William (“Bill”) Wright; and grandson, William Judson (“Jud”) Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Grey Wilson, Jim Wright, and Bill Wright.

The family is eternally grateful to John and Susie Wilson for their care, love and unwavering support, and to the doctors and staff of the Pinecrest Retirement Community and Hospice in the Pines, who treated Nanna Pat like family.
