Maria Agustina Morales

         A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Agustina Morales, 92, of Diboll, will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Diboll with Father Luis Fernando Arroyave officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Haven Cemetery.

          Mrs. Morales was born August 28, 1933, in Saltillo, Mexico, to the late Fransico Meza and Maria De Jesus (Pequeño) Meza., and passed away peacefully Friday, August 29, 2025, in Diboll.

          Mrs. Morales' life was a testament to her love for her family and her unwavering faith. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She was known for her giving spirit and sense of humor. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and being a member of the Guadalupana community. She was a talented home cook, and all will miss her tamales.

           She is survived by her daughter and husband, Carmen and Ramiro Perez of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Jelyitsa and Wayne Rubis of Tampa, FL; granddaughter and husband, Candy and Harvey Olivares of Fort Bragg, NC; granddaughter, Kari Perez of Dalzell, SC; great-grandchildren; Desedi Tamez, Aramis Olivares, Ezra Olivares, Emmy Rubisand; numerous nieces and nephews. Her memory will be treasured by a host of extended family and friends.

          She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ignacio Morales, Sr.; son, Juan Morales; and siblings, Luciana Ramirez, Sara Meza, and Juan Meza.

          The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Trinity Mission in Diboll, especially Ms. Shequila. And to Hospice in the Pines for their compassionate care during her final days.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
