Maria Sara Ruiz

          A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Sara Ruiz, 76, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lufkin with Father Denzil Vithanage officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.

          Mrs. Ruiz was born on December 7, 1946, in Piedras Negras, Mexico, to the late Alejandro Flores and Socorro Martinez, and died Thursday, April 6, 2023, at her residence.

          Mrs. Ruiz was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lufkin. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family. 

          Mrs. Ruiz is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jesus Ruiz of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jose and Maria Ruiz of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Angelica and Jose Garcia of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Blanca and Fidencio Martinez of Lufkin; daughter, Claudia Ruiz of Lufkin; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and sisters.

          She was preceded in death by her parents.

          Pallbearers will be Jose Ruiz, Luis Ruiz, Jesus Ruiz, Alberto Aguilera, Jr., Jonathan Guedea, Jose Guedea, Fidencio Martinez, Jr., and Fidencio Martinez, Sr.

          Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2023, at Shafer Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
