Funeral services for Marie T. Moreno, 93, of Lufkin, Texas, will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Memorial Park and Cemetery in Lufkin.

          Mrs. Moreno was born on June 4, 1932, in San Buenaventura, Mexico, to the late Antonio Terrazas and the late Antonia (Velasquez) Terrazas, and died Friday, May 22, 2026, in Lufkin.

          Maria’s parents relocated her family to northern Tamaulipas. She worked in agriculture in both Mexico and south Texas. She married her late husband, Pascual M. Moreno, and together they raised nine children. In 1980, they relocated their family to Lufkin, Texas, where they finished raising their youngest children. Maria loved spending time with her grandkids, cooking for her family, and gardening. She was a very religious woman who loved reading the scripture. 

         She is survived by her son, Rosalio Moreno of Lufkin; daughter, Alma Yolanda Vazquez of Pharr, Texas; daughter, Magdalena Puente of Celaya, Mexico; son, José Ricardo Moreno of San Antonio; son, Sergio Paz Moreno of Lufkin; daughter, Flor E. Moreno of Lufkin; son, Alejandro Moreno of Diboll, Texas; son, Julio C. Moreno of Lufkin; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

         Mrs. Moreno was preceded in death by her husband, Pascual M. Moreno; and son, Mario T. Moreno.

          Pallbearers will be Rosalio Moreno, José R. Moreno, Sergio P. Moreno, Alejandro Moreno, Julio C. Moreno, Efren C. Moreno, and Julio C. Moreno, Jr.

         Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Shafer Funeral Home.
