Private funeral services for Mariana Lucio Hernandez, 84, of Eagle Pass, TX, will be held at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Marcos Elizondo officiating. Interment will be at Largent Cemetery.

Mrs. Lucio was born March 23, 1936 in San Buenaventura, Coahuila, Mexico, the daughter of the late Ildifonzo Hernandez and Gertrudis (Arevalo) Hernandez, and died Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Lucio loved to work in her garden. She had a green thumb and could grow just about anything. She was also a gifted cook and made the most amazing dishes. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed every minute she could spend with them. She enjoyed knitting as well, and knitted blankets for all her grandchildren.

Mrs. Lucio is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Irma and Onesimo Lucio de Garcia of San Buenaventura, Mexico; daughter, Leticia Lucio de Garza of Corrigan, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Juan and Rosario Lucio of Midland, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Rosa and Cruz Castillo of Lufkin, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Maricruz and Andrew Cochran of Midlothian, TX; grandchildren, Alejandra, Luz Maria, Ana Lidia, Saray, Jose Cruz, Wenseslao, Enrique, Angie, Irma, Maryann, Rebeca, Samuel, Deshia, Jacqueline, Hannah, Hailey, Harley, Liam; 24 great-granchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; daughter in love, Darla McGuire of Lufkin, TX; brother and sister-in-law Ramon and Guadalupe Hernandez of Eagle Pass, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Jesus and Maria Hernandez of Midland, TX; sister, Lydia Hernandez of San Antonio, TX; sister, Alicia Macias of Lawton, OK; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cruz Lucio Vasquez; sons, Fernando Lucio, Miguel Lucio, 3 sisters, and one brother.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Cochran, Jose Castillo, Josh Castillo, Cruz Castillo, Enrique Castillo, and Samuel Lucio.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Marcus Guevara.
