Funeral services for Mario A. Ramirez-Tonsul, 50, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Lufkin with Pastor Ricardo Coss officiating. Interment will follow at Newman Cemetery.
Mr. Ramirez was born on March 11, 1974, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to the late Miguel Ramirez and Christina (Tonsul) Ramirez, and died Sunday, October 6, 2024, in Lufkin.
Mr. Ramirez was a member and worship leader at Southside Baptist Church in Lufkin. He loved being at church and talking to people about God. Mr. Ramirez enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and singing. He loved watching the movie Tombstone and the show S.W.A.T. and having family barbeques. Mr. Ramirez also loved his 1997 Red Ford Truck.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Maria Perez; brother, Miguel Angel Ramirez-Tonsul; sister and brother-in-law, Chayito and Agustin Martinez; brother, Marco Antonio Ramirez; and brother, Ramon de la Garza Valadez daughter, Patricia Ramirez-De Jesus; son, Mario A. Ramirez, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, John and Katharyn Rodriguez; son, Axel Tovar; daughter, Katy Rodriguez; son, Chris Hernandez; son, Joel Tovar; son, Jeronimo Tovar; son, Gael Tovar; son, Arath Tovar; son, Adriel Tovar; granddaughter, Amelia Grace Rodriguez; granddaughter, Isbella Kay Rodriguez; and grandson, Oliver Emmitt Rodriguez.
Mr. Ramirez was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Martha Ilia Ramirez
Pallbearers will be Patricia Ramirez-De Jesus, Mario A. Ramirez, Jr., Miguel Angel Ramirez-Tonsul, Marco Antonio Ramirez, Axel Tovar, John Rodriguez, Ramon de la Garza Valadez, and Logan Finch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cesilio Venegas, Alyssa Venegas, and Jose Morales.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
