Memorial Services for Mark Randall Smith, 69, of Lufkin, Texas will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Brother Gary Rowe officiating. Inurnment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin.

          Mr. Smith was born on October 29, 1956, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late J.W. Smith and the late Norma Jean (Crain) Smith, and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Lufkin.

          Mark was an electrician by trade and worked in both Lufkin, Texas and Georgia, where he lived for a while. He loved fishing and cooking on his BBQ pit. He was also an avid pool player.

          When times were rough for Mark, his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kathleen Smith never gave up on him. They helped with his medical appointments and hospital stays, taking care of his every need. They always made time for him.

          The family would like to offer their special thanks to the staff at Palliative Care for being there for Mark in his time of need, making sure he had caring nurses and aides available to assist him. The family is deeply grateful to them.

          Mr. Smith is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kathleen Smith of Lufkin; sister, Debbie Huber of Lufkin; brother, Roger Smith of Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

           He was preceded in death by his parents.
