Funeral services for Martha Perkins Farmer, 82, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. James Wagstaff officiating. Interment will follow at  Neches Cemetery in Neches Texas.

          Mrs. Farmer was born on June 2, 1942, in Palestine, Texas, to the late Cleo George Perkins and Mellie Mae (Garrett) Perkins, and died Thursday, August 15, 2024, in Lufkin.

          Mrs. Farmer was a retired Postmaster of 20 years. She was a dedicated church member and children’s Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Farmer enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing the piano. Above all she loved her family and found joy in spending time with them.   

          She is survived by her son, Rubin Welch of Hudson; daughter and husband, Pamela and Douglas Enfinger of Hudson; son and wife, Rusty and Donna Farmer of North Carolina; daughter, Debbie Kronkerman of Delaware; grandson and wife, Derek and Ashley LaCovara of Lufkin; grandson, David Enfinger of Hudson; granddaughter, Kelsey Farmer; grandson, Kellan Farmer; grandson, Reece Farmer all of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Olivia LaCovara, Luke LaCovara, Preston Barringer, Parker Farmer, and Ashton Barringer; sister, Nellie Ivins of Neches, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.     

         She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Farmer; sister, Ora Belle; brother, Cleo Perkins; and daughter-in-law, Sherian Welch.

          Pallbearers will be Derek LaCovara, David Enfinger, Braden Hack, Brennon Hack, and Jessie Hack.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Brumley and Jim Bob Crocker.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.
