Funeral services for Mary Evelyn Bacon , 75, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin  with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Interment will be at Stryker Cemetery in Corrigan .

         Mrs. Bacon was born on June 9, 1949, in Mckenzie, Tennessee, to the late William Rayburn Jr. and Francis Pitman, and died Thursday, December 5, 2024, in Lufkin.

         Mrs. Bacon enjoyed babysitting, reading, and shopping. Mary loved babies and they were her world, she also loved her fur babies.  

         She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Noah Bacon Jr. of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Shelly and Kelly Grubbs of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Kerri and Kade Thompson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Joshua and Chelsea Grubbs of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lane, Joshua Lane Jr., Kadee Jo Thompson, and Kasey Thompson; brother, Charles Rayburn of Virgina; brother, William Carey Ricks of Lufkin; sister, Ginger Rayburn of Gun Barrell City, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.   

          She was preceded in death by her parents.

          Pallbearers Kade Thompson, Kelly Grubbs, Joshua Grubbs, T.J Tullos, Gene Allen Bacon, and Brett Tullos.

          Special memorials may be made to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

          Lunch will be provided at Whispering Oaks Venue, 238 Schoolcraft Road, Lufkin, TX 75901 after the preceding at the cemetery.

          Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.
