Funeral services for Mary Beth Farris Shoemaker, 79, of Pollok, will be held Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Clawson Assembly of God in Lufkin with Pastor Josh Poage, Pastor Kevin Poage, and Reagan Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Largent Cemetery in Lufkin.
Mrs. Shoemaker was born on December 6, 1944, in Channelview, Texas, to the late Tom Sam Farris and Lora Alabama Farris, and died Friday, August 30, 2024, in her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Shoemaker was the youngest of eight children. Her father was a traveling preacher, who built three churches in his ministry throughout East Texas, and finally settling in the Lufkin area. Mary was a devoted faithful wife to her husband, John, for 49 years. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mary was an accomplished seamstress, a great cook, artist, and engineering supervisor of any and all home projects. She found home at Clawson Assembly of God. She loved the Lord and singing in church, she devoted her talents to the church choir, sewing the choir robes, assisting Pastor Kevin Poage and Pastor Josh Poage as the church secretary , coordinator of events for the seniors, and part of the prayer chain. She became a trusted confidant to anyone someone could talk to. Mary was very loved and will be greatly missed because she was truly a virtuous woman.
She is survived by her husband, John Shoemaker of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Lavinia and Mark Bollier of Trinity, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Thomas Roberts of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Reagan and Earlene Duncan of Trinity, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Heather Shoemaker of Pollok; nine grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Georgia Warren of Granbury, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lovelle Ivie, Betty Jo Walker, Bobbie Reese, Eunice Carter, and Sammie Wade; and brother, Bud Farris.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Duncan, Jayden Bollier, Clay Walker, Jason McAdams, Charles Wilson, and Shayne Dickerson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Duncan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2024, at Clawson Assembly of God.
