Mary Alice (Parsons) Erbey

           Funeral services for Mary Alice (Parsons) Erbey, 85, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. John Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Largent Cemetery.

           Mrs. Erbey was born on January 17, 1940, in Flat Rock, Michigan, to the late Harold Laverne Parsons and Erma Belle (Northrup) Parsons, and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 5, 2025, at her residence.

          Mrs. Erbey, also known as Nanny to many, loved her family very much. Her home was known to be a gathering place for all children to play, swim, and have a snack. Mrs. Erbey enjoyed traveling with her husband on long hauls. She also loved to spend her time mowing her yard, crocheting, camping, and watching her LA Dodgers.

           Mrs. Erbey is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Joe Hernandez of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Tim Fair of Shepherd, MI; son, James Erbey, Jr. of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Teresa Erbey of Lufkin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Verna Hutchinson of Coldwater Lake, MI.

           She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Floyd Erbey, Sr.; daughter, Kathy Ford; son-in-law, George Ford; grandson, William Lovett; sisters, Arlene Musser and Jo Anne Waltz; and brother, Charles Buck Parsons.

          Pallbearers will be Casey Erbey, Jonathan Erbey, Shaun Elliott, Eric Elliott, Chris Battles, Andy Ackerman, Timmy Fair, and Jose Hernandez.

          The family would like to give special recognition to Mary’s son-in-law, Joe Hernandez and Carla Taylor for all the loving care given to her over the years.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home.
