Funeral services for Mary Edwena Anderson, 87, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Pastor John Boone officiating. Interment will follow at Gilbert Chapel Cemetery.
Ms. Anderson was born on May 23, 1938, in Baytown, Texas, to the late Jacob Luther Segrest and Amma (Havard) Segrest, and died Saturday, September 27, 2025, at her residence.
Ms. Anderson was of the Pentecostal faith. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Ms. Anderson was a wonderful cook, and her specialty was dumplings and hot water cornbread. She enjoyed going to garage sales, and cleaning and refinishing furniture. Ms. Anderson loved cosmetics and sold Mary Kay.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Larry Mathews of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Earl Luckey of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Deanna Ivy of Lufkin; son, Gary Ivy of Lufkin; honorary daughter, Alicia Anderson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jennifer Mahaffey, Teran Aldava, Brandon Bortness, Brandy Lamon, Michael Bortness, Jesilyn Rivera, Cameron Ivy, Zane Ivy, Ashley Ivy, Aaron Ivy, Austin Ivy, Randall Page, Jeremiah Ivy, and Ethyn Ivy; 27 great-grandchildren; twin brother, Edward Segrest of Grand Junction, CO; brother, David Segrest of Lufkin; and special fur babies, Chloe and Lucy.
Ms. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mittie Goodman and Rachel Spurell; brothers, Hubert Segrest and Jacob Segrest; and great-great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Stanley.
Pallbearers will be Leo Rivera, Michael Bortness, Ethyn Ivy, Austin Ivy, Brandon Bortness, Jeremy Aldava, Zane Ivy, and Noah Rivera.
Honorary pallbearers will be Braden Lamon, Jeremiah Ivy, Aaron Ivy, and Cameron Ivy.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service.
